DAE (BARC)

Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), set up in 1971, is the second largest R&D establishment of Department of Atomic Energy. The primary mission of the centre is to conduct a broad based multidisciplinary programme of Scientific Research and Advanced Engineering, directed towards the development of technology of Sodium Cooled Fast Breeder Reactors (FBR) in the country. The programmes at IGCAR are at the cutting edge of frontier areas of science and technology. Successful development of technology and demonstration of safe operation of Fast Breeder Test Reactor culminated in the beginning of the construction of Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor at Kalpakkam by BHAVINI. This is a part of the second stage of Indian Atomic Energy Programme, which is aimed at preparing the country for utilization of the extensive Thorium reserves and providing means to meet the large demands of electrical energy in 21st century. Kalpakkam is located 80 kms South of Chennai [MADRAS] and is 8 kms South of historic Mamallapuram (Mahabalipuram). who relishes challenges and would like to take part in design, construction & operation of Fast Breeder Reactors and associated fuel cycle facilities, or participate in engineering developments in Fast Breeder Technology? If yes, then DAE invites you to apply to its training programme at the IGCAR Training School at Kalpakkam as a part of the BARC Training School programme On successful completion of training, you will be appointed as a Scientific Officer in IGCAR, Kalpakkam or in any other units of DAE with opportunities for attractive career progression up to the highest echelons.
