|
|
If you, like I was, became surprised that one fine morning your Internet Explorer refused to let you open Internet Options, don't worry, you've got company! Windows stealthily updated my XP to install this little trouble-maker...this is the error message that I get:
| Quote: | | This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions on this computer. Please contact your system administrator. |
Anyway, I found a way to by-pass it...thought I'll let you people know:
1. You can open it via Control Panel-->Internet Options
But if you're going to change the options often enough, this could be rather a pain, here comes...
2. This restriction is due to a registry key called "NoBrowserOptions". You can find the key at:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions]
Set the value of the key to 0 and your restriction will be removed.
Registry editing is a very risky thing to do unless you know what you're doing, if you don't know how to bring up the registry editor, you probably shouldn't be using option 2! For people who are not very comfortable using a computer, please use option 1!
