Well, some of you might know how this works, for others, here it goes:
1. Click on Applications-->Internet-->IM.
Welcome to GAIM, the Instant Messenger client in-built in Linux!
2. Click on Accounts-->Add
3. I'll show you how to setup Yahoo! Messenger here, the rest are pretty similar...
Select "Yahoo" as your protocol.
4. Enter your screen-name(login id) WITHOUT "@yahoo.com/co.in" which means, enter only your
username.
5. DO NOT enter your password unless you want it to be saved(which means that anyone who opens
GAIM can log into your account).
6. Ignore the rest of the fields unless you want to have more features.
7. Click on "Save".
8. Click "Close" to close the "Accounts" window.
9. In the "Login" window, select your Yahoo! id as your "Account" and enter your password.
10. Click on "Sign On" and you're done!!!
The only problem is that you have to do this on every computer that you use unless you've done this before on the same computer. If you have already setup your account on the computer once, ONLY do steps 9 and 10.

P.S.: Do be careful when you chat that no faculty sees you, you don't want GAIM to be uninstalled now, do you?
