POWERGRID, one of the largest Transmission Utility in the world, operating about 55,120 circuit km of transmission lines, having transformation capacity of about 54,400 MVA and facilitating transfer of 34,800 MU of energy across the regions. POWERGRID is consistently maintaining the availability of its transmission system above 99.50% level through deployment of latest Operation and Maintenance techniques at par with global standards. 45% of total power generated in the country is being transmitted on the transmission network of POWERGRID.
POWERGRID, is the first Power Sector Utility to be certified for operating an integrated Management Dystem involving ISO:18001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management system), ISO:9001(Quality) & ISO: 14001 (Environment).

Educational Qualification
B.E/B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg.) degree /AMIE in Electrical discipline from a recognized university/ Institution with minimum 65 % marks. Candidates with AMIE may apply only if they have cleared both sections A&B with not less than 65% marks. Final year/semester students, who expect their results by 31.07.2007 can also apply, provided they have obtained at least 65% marks upto pre-final examinations.
Electrical Discipline includes the following nomenclature: Electrical, Electrical & Electronics and Power Engineering.

SELECTION PROCESS
Eligible candidates will have to appear for written Test of Objective Type (OT) on 06.05.2007. The Objective Test consists of two parts, viz;
1.
Part – I, Technical Knowledge Test (TKT)
2.
Part – II, Executive Aptitude Test (EAT)
Short listed candidates based on the performance in the written test thereof will be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The candidate will have the option to appear for written test/ Group Discussion/ Interview in Hindi or English.
Those candidates who opt for HINDI as the medium of test shall only be provided test paper in HINDI.
TEST CENTRES
The written test shall be held in the following centers:-

* Bangalore
* Bhubaneswar
* Chandigarh
* Chennai
* Delhi
* Guwahati
* Hyderabad
* Jaipur
* Kolkata
* Nagpur
* Patna
* Cochin
* Mumbai
Candidates have to choose the test center nearest to their address for communication and no change will be allowed subsequently. Admission to the test will be on production of admit card which will have to be down loaded from the web site from 23.04.2007
REMUNERATION
Selected candidates will undergo training for a period of one year at POWERGRID establishments and other technical training institutes. During training they will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 11,225 – 17,250/- *on a starting basic pay of Rs. 11,225/- per month & allowances as per company rules. On successful completion of training they will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 12,000 – 17,500/-*. The emoluments include Basic Pay, Industrial DA, HRA, CCA, Mobile phone allowance etc as per company rules. In addition to above liberal benefits and facilities like leave, LTC, Company leased accommodation, Group Insurance, Personal Accident Insurance, House Building and Conveyance advance, membership of professional bodies, retirement medical facility etc. are also admissible. The approximate cost-to-company on regularization after training is Rs. 5.75 lakhs per annum.
*Pay Scale is due for revision w.e.f 1.1.2007
SERVICE AGREEMENT
The selected candidates will be required to execute a service agreement bond to successfully complete the prescribed training period and thereafter serve the organization for at least three years.
HEALTH
Applicants should have sound health. Candidates with myopia and hypermetropia exceeding +4.00, squint and colour blindness (partial or full), need not apply. Appointment of selected candidates in POWERGRID shall be subject to medical fitness as per Medical Norms and Standards of POWERGRID. No relaxation in health standard is allowed.
RELAXATIONS AND CONCESSIONS - PERSONS WITH DISABILITY
Maximum Age Limit is relaxed by ten years in case of General Category, fifteen years in case of SC/ST category and thirteen years in case of OBC(NCL) category.
Exemption from Application Fee of Rs. 400/-, provided a copy of medical certificate in support of disability issued by the Government Medical Board attached to Special Employment Exchange for the handicapped is enclosed with the Resume.
Qualifying Marks in BE/B.Tech/B.Sc (Engg.)/AMIE is pass mark.
RELAXATIONS AND CONCESSIONS - OTHER BACKWARD CLASSES (NON CREAMY LAYER)
Maximum Age Limit is relaxed by three years, provided a copy of OBC (NCL) certificate in the format prescribed by the Govt. of India for appointment in Central Govt. posts from a competent authority which clearly states that the candidate does not belong to creamy layer is enclosed with the Resume.
RELAXATIONS AND CONCESSIONS - SCHEDULED CASTE
Maximum Age Limit is relaxed by five years.
Exemption from Application Fee of Rs. 400/-, provided an attested copy of the certificate in proof of caste, issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format is attached with the Resume.
Qualifying Marks in essential qualification is pass mark.
RELAXATIONS AND CONCESSIONS - SCHEDULED TRIBE
Maximum Age Limit is relaxed by five years.
Exemption from Application Fee of Rs. 400/- provided an attested copy of the certificate in proof of caste, issued by a competent authority in the prescribed format is attached with the Resume.
Qualifying Marks in in the minimum required qualification is pass mark.
RELAXATIONS AND CONCESSIONS - J & K DOMICILE (01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989)
Maximum Age Limit is relaxed by five years in case of General Category, ten years in case of SC/ST category and eight years in case of OBC(NCL) category provided age relaxation cum domicile certificate in the prescribed format issued by a competent authority is enclosed with the Resume.
RELAXATIONS AND CONCESSIONS - EX-SERVICEMEN
Ex – servicemen and Commissioned officers including ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least 5 years’ military service and who have been released-
On completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within 6 month) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency: or
On account of physical disability attributable to military service: or
On invalidment
Shall be allowed maximum relaxation of five years in the upper age limit.
GENERAL INFORMATION
1. All eligibility qualification should be from a recognized Institution or University.
2. Mere submission of application does not guarantee the adequacy of candidature for being considered for further selection process.
3. Management reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process, depending on the requirement.
4. Management reserves the right to raise the eligibility standards incase the applicants are in very large number.
5. Candidature is liable to be rejected at any stage of recruitment process or after recruitment or joining, if any information provided by the candidate is not found in conformity with the eligibility criteria mentioned in the detailed advertisement given in the web site.
6. Computations of age shall be done on the last date for submission of online application. Date of issuance of mark sheet shall be taken as the date of acquiring qualification.
7. POWERGRID will not be responsible for any postal delay or loss of application in transit
8. Applications that are not in conformity with the requirements indicated in the advertisement, incomplete applications, unsigned, without photograph, without Demand Draft and those received after the last date will be rejected.
9. Demand Draft will not be refunded if the candidature is rejected for any reason.
10. The applicants will have the option to give Written Test/Interview/Group Discussion in HINDI language also. The candidates have to choose the medium of test at the time of applying online and shall be provided question papers according to the medium opted.
10. Selected candidates are liable to be posted anywhere in India.
12. Complaints attributable to the incompatibility of the Client Systems, ignorance of users, non-availability of internet connectivity or any other aspects beyond the direct control of POWERGRID employees or systems will not be entertained in the Complaint Management System of POWERGRID. No correspondence made in POWERGRID’s Complaint Management System, in this recruitment will be entertained by POWERGRID.
